I recently migrated all of my servers from Amazon EC2, Rackspace and Linode to Google Compute Engine. Everything feels so much faster when tunneling through SSH or using anything IO related. Web pages are loading instantly to the point where I was able to remove caching layers in a few of my applications.
Google Compute has pre-configured cloud images for Debian 8.4. I have opted to run Debian on most of the servers instead of Ubuntu Server 16.04. It was a breeze to set up and I had my servers migrated in just a couple hours.
My next objective will be to explore the App Engine service and find potential cost savings for hosted sites which are light on functionality.
